Ailbhe O' Neill MIACP

Ailbhe has extensive experience in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and is dedicated to supporting people as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward improved mental and emotional wellbeing. Her approach is integrative, drawing from a range of therapeutic methods so that each session is tailored to the individual needs of the client. With a BA (Hons) Level 8 in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, Ailbhe brings both a strong theoretical foundation and practical therapeutic skills to her work with diverse client groups.

Ailbhe is a person-centred therapist at heart. She prioritises creating a warm, non-judgmental and compassionate space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood and valued. She believes that when people feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings, they can develop deeper self-awareness, strengthen their coping skills and find their own path toward healing and growth. Ailbhe has strong experience in crisis intervention, offering calm, grounded support to clients experiencing acute distress while helping them feel safe and guided. She is also experienced in working with trauma and complex trauma, approaching this work with steadiness, sensitivity and a deep respect for each client’s pace.

As a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Ailbhe adheres to the highest standards of ethical practice. She is committed to client safety, confidentiality, clear boundaries and informed consent, and she engages in ongoing professional development to ensure her work remains current, competent and supportive.

Ailbhe has undertaken a wide range of additional training to strengthen and broaden her clinical practice. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Practitioner Training, safeTALK and suicide prevention, Children First training, and specialised awareness training in working with gender, sexual and relationship diverse clients. She also holds a Certificate in Working Online with Adolescent Clients, along with training in Telemental Health and Online Assessments, allowing her to offer safe and effective support in both in-person and online settings.

Ailbhe is also experienced in working with clients affected by domestic, sexual and gender-based violence (DSGBV). She has experience in working with Wexford Rape Crisis, where she provides trauma-informed counselling to survivors of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. In addition, she has completed a Level 8 Certificate in Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse & Gender-Based Violence with SETU. This training, combined with her frontline experience, enables her to offer sensitive, informed and compassionate support to individuals who have experienced trauma, complex trauma, abuse or violence.
